The Position:
Field Engineer (Assistant/Project/Associate/Senior)
Field Specialist (Assistant/Project/Associate/Senior)
Example of Responsibilities:
Demonstrate good knowledge of civil engineering or construction management quality assurances practices per project specifications and plans
Prepare written daily reports documenting construction activities
Communicate between project engineer and/or client with project activity
Prepares quantity calculation sheets to support monthly progress payments to construction contractors
Coordinate necessary special inspections and field testing
Monitors project schedule and traffic control plans for compliance with approved standards
Observes and inspects ongoing construction work
Perform construction record-keeping activities and recommend payments to contractor
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Experience with Caltrans Standard Specifications/Plans and local standard specifications and detail plans
Familiar with regulatory requirements such as CalOSHA, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Regional Water Quality Control Board, and other regulatory agencies as required
Ideal Qualifications:
Two years of continuing education beyond the High School diploma in engineering or related field and three years of experience performing construction inspection of public infrastructure such as roadways, water, sewer, and storm drain.
Preferred but not required: Bachelor degree in civil engineering or closely related field from an accredited college or university (required for field engineer)
Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license
