The Position

Civil Plan Review Engineer (Associate Principal/Senior Engineer)

Example of Responsibilities:

  • Perform plan review duties related to private land development from project entitlement phase through completion of the construction phase on behalf of public agency clients.

  • Review and process civil plans for land development projects to ensure compliance with established agreements/contracts, local codes, standard specifications, and other applicable requirements.

  • Review grading & drainage plans and geotechnical reports.

  • Review plans for accessibility and National Flood Insurance Program standards.

  • Develop conditions of approvals for various development project entitlement applications.

  • Review and process plans for subdivisions, lot line adjustments, lot mergers, and certificate of compliance.

  • Ability to review and interpret easements.

  • Coordinate civil plan review and revisions with developers, designers of record, contractor and public agency.

  • Develop and revise maps and civil plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D and basic understanding of ArcView GIS system.

  • Travel locally in the Bay Area region for project site inspection, project meetings with public agency clients and as-needed assignments at public agency office.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering or closely related field from an accredited college or university

  • Project – 5 to 9 years of typical experience performing civil plan check reviews or designing private development projects

  • Associate – over 10 years of typical experience performing civil plan check reviews or designing private development projects

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California (Associate or higher position)

  • Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license

  • Be a team player in a small office environment
