Exbourne Water Tank No. 2, Water Main and Pump Station Project - Mid-Peninsula Water District, CA

The Exbourne project site is nestled in the hills between the Cities of Belmont and San Carlos. The residential neighborhood surrounding the tank site is considered one of the most desirable places to live on the central peninsula. Multi-million dollar homes were located within several hundred feet of the project site.
Formed in 1929, the Mid-Peninsula Water District supplies water to consumers in an area slightly larger than the City of Belmont. The District's service territory covers approximately 5 square miles and serves approximately 28,000 people.
The Exbourne project involved demolition of an out-of-date 2.0 million gallon (MG) steel tank and pump station and construction of a new 1.5 MG steel tank, pump station, back up generator and SCADA components. In addition, approximately 2,050 linear feet of 12-inch and 500 linear feet of 8-inch PVC water main were constructed leading from the project site to the next tank site.
Pakpour Consulting Group served as the Districts’ project manager during the construction of the project. A resident engineer from Pakpour Consulting Group was on site during the entire length of the project and provided complete construction management services, including constructability review prior to start of the project, inspection, submittal review, schedule verification, cost control, labor compliance, change order negotiation and reporting to the District staff and board of directors.
The location of the project site posed a challenge for both construction and delivery and off-haul of construction material. This required extensive coordination by the resident engineer with the contractor and neighbors.
