School Access Driveway Project - City of American Canyon, CA

Napa Junction Elementary School was constructed many years ago when American Canyon was part of Napa County. A little league field, owned and maintained by the City, is located next to the school. The existing gravel roadway which provides access to both the elementary school and little league complex experienced excessive wear and tear, creating muddy streets and dust, due to the expanded use of the road with bus traffic.
Pakpour Consulting Group provides on-call engineering services to the City of American Canyon and prepared plans, specifications and cost estimate for a new bus-suitable driveway to access the school. The driveway experiences a 10 foot vertical drop in approximately 50 feet leading to an extensive cross slope analysis by the design team to reduce the risk of a tipping hazard to large buses and other vehicles while negotiating the elevation change and turning radius.
Our design team also coordinated with the school design team to integrate this City project into the overall school rehabilitation project constructed at the same time. During the construction of the project, Pakpour Consulting Group conducted several site visits to resolve drainage issues due to ground water seepage.
