The Los Altos Hills County Fire District (LAHCFD) provides fire protection, suppression and safety services to the Town of Los Altos Hills and portions of unincorporated Santa Clara County. With multi-million dollar homes in the area, several miles of fire roads were constructed so fire engines could navigate between major roads in order to increase response times. Over the years, the fire roads began experiencing pavement failure which included longitudinal and alligator cracking, weed intrusion, and settlement.
Serving as on-call District Engineer for the LAHCFD, Pakpour Consulting Group developed plans, specifications and cost estimate for the reconstruction of these fire roads which included the removal of 4-inches of asphalt concrete, re-compacting the existing base, and placing 4-inches of new asphalt concrete with pavement reinforcing fabric. Pakpour Consulting Group also provided bid assistance and construction management for the project and worked closely with residents and the LAHCFD to ensure the project was as least disruptive as possible.
