Alleyway Improvement Project - Town of Los Gatos, CA

The Town of Los Gatos experienced a strong resurgence in its historic downtown due in large part to a streetscape project completed in early 2002. Many new boutique retailers, restaurants and shops were constructed in the area, putting a strain on the existing infrastructure, including access alleyways behind the retailers used for deliveries. Inadequate drainage along with heavy truck loading in the alleys caused poor surface conditions, leading to ponding and potholes.
The Town of Los Gatos retained Pakpour Consulting Group to prepare rehabilitation and design schemes for four alleyways in the downtown area. Access to the businesses had to be maintained during the entire length of the project, adding to the complexity of design. Pakpour Consulting Group prepared plans, specifications and cost estimate for the project.
