2007-01-02

PLEASANTON, CA, JANUARY 2, 2007 — The Woodside Mutual Water Company (WMWC) has retained Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc. (www.pcgengr.com) to provide Project Management and Engineering Services for a District Wide upgrade project. Joubin Pakpour, P.E. president of Pakpour Consulting Group, made the announcement.

The Town of Woodside is one of the most prestigious communities on the San Francisco Peninsula with property values routinely measuring in the multi-million dollar range. The WMWC is comprised of 43 individual home owners along Old La Honda Road. The WMWC purchases its water through the California Water Service (CWS) and distributes it through two pump stations, three tanks sites and 12,000 linear feet of 1 to 4-inch steel watermains. No fire hydrants currently exist in the WMWC service area.

The WMWC has experienced an increasing number of infrastructure failures over the past five years. The original infrastructure was originally installed over fifty years ago and most of the components have reached the end of their functional life. Three years ago WMWC commissioned a study to evaluate alternatives to upgrade its infrastructure. The 43 home owners voted to replace the entire storage and distribution system including replacing the pump stations.

Pakpour Consulting Group was selected to oversee the preliminary design, final design and construction management of the three million dollar upgrade project. During the preliminary design phase Pakpour Consulting Group will work closely with WMWC staff, the Town of Woodside, CWS, and the Woodside Fire Protection District to determine the most cost-effective and viable watermain alignment which still meets the goals of all the stake holders.

Once a preferred alternative alignment is selected, Pakpour Consulting Group will prepare construction Plans, Specifications and Cost Estimate for the project. In total, approximately 15,000 linear feet of 6 and 8-inch ductile iron watermain, 4 - 50,000 gallon storage tanks, and 4 - 25 hp pumps will be installed as part of the upgrade project.

Pakpour Consulting Group, Inc. is a municipal civil engineering design and construction management firm located in Pleasanton, CA.
